About Universitat Jaume I

GEOTEC is an informatics research group, part of the computer science department (“departamento de lenguajes y sistemas informáticos”) and the Institute of New Imaging Technologies at the Universidad Jaime I, Castellón, Spain. GEOTEC is specialized in geospatial technologies and the application of geospatial and sensor technologies to various application domains (e.g., agriculture, health, education, smart cities, environmental science, …), with particular research lines in Internet of Things, Mobile and Web-based spatial applications, in- and outdoor positioning and navigation, smart cities, mobile health and data visualisation.

It consists of 1 full professor, 4 associate professors, 2 post-doctoral researchers, 10 predoctoral researchers and software developers, and 1 administrative staff. GEOTEC has ample experience in applying its computer science and geo-informatics knowledge and its software development skills in European, national and local projects, as well as technologies transfer project with industry.

Recently, GEOTEC is/was partner in two H2020-MSCA European Joint Doctorate programmes, the European JRC-IPR funded ELISE lot 1 project, a long-running Erasmus+ Erasmus Mundus master program (10+ years), the Erasmus+ Longlife Learning GI-N2K (LLP) and Sector Skills Alliance EO4GEO projects. For the latter, GEOTEC developed the EO4GEO BoK platform and BoK-based tools.
